Why doesn’t Minecraft support crossplay?

The default answer is no, but you can still do a little hacky by using a proxy.

The main reason why Minecraft doesn’t support cross-play is because, Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock edition also called as Minecraft Windows 10 Edition or Minecraft Pocket Edition is because they are completely different games in nature, and cannot be crossplayed for a very valid reason — which is that they are fundamentally programmed in 2 very different languages, — Java and C++.

However, some geniuses have worked out an open-source project called GeyserMC — Which allows you to heat Minecraft upto it’s top performance and connect java with bedrock. Of course you can expect bugs, but here is what their official discord says.

What is Geyser?

Geyser is a proxy between Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition — allowing connections from Bedrock Clients to Java Servers.

Well, that’s great. How do I use it?
It’s recommended that you host it on high performance hardware for a better experience. I recommend
https://green-bull.in

  1. You download the latest build from here http://ci.geysermc.org/
  2. If you’re using BungeeCord setup, just download the plugin for Bungeecord called as Geyser-Bungeecord.jar and put it in the /plugins/ folder of bungeecord.
  3. Restart your server once.
  4. It will generate a config.yml
Configuring it is pretty much common sense. In most cases you will not need to touch it. Ah yes, you’ll need your hosting provider open the bedrock port for you. If you’re self hosting you can open the port-forward 19132 yourself. (It’s forwarded by default on Green-Bull servers)( •̀ ω •́ )✧
  5. Restart your server again
  6. Done. You can now connect using the same IP but with a 19132 port ;)
  7. Have fun
